21st Century Skills

Looking at Educational Technology, Digital Literacy, etc., I keep running across "21st Century Skills." Do any of you have some background on this?

Speaking of Digital Literacy... In Will Richardson's book p. 126 it states, "For more than a hundred years we have defined being literate as being able to read and to write." How does Digital Literacy fit in to the definition of being literate? Or, does it?

Tech Retreat

Annie's serene picture reminds me we are scheduled for a retreat in April... The weekend of April 8th is Easter and we have a Council meeting on the calendar for April 28. Would it be possible to tie the retreat in to the weekend of Council since many of us are on Council? Britton, will you help out with this...

Poet? NOT!

Who posted the new link
To Read, Write, Think?!
It's a place I like to go,
A great thing to show!
How I feel
Is NEVER re-invent the wheel!

What is it with my thinking a poem must rhyme...
Some teacher ruined me at some time...

HELP!

All about Shawn

Just wanted you to know I've now seen Shawn's WP presentation 3 times now. He has certainly perfected it and is actually quiet all the way through quick writes:) I was trying to figure out why my kids both this year and last year love music more than PE. The key is Shawn and the writing he does in class. My kids love to write. Just last week they came back from class in the morning and picked up writing songs in the afternoon. He got them started and they couldn't stop. Thanks Shawn!!

Hello

Hi all. Just glad to be posting. We're trying this at school and there are a few posts. It's fun to try. A different world out there for nontechies much unlike our students. I love trying!!

How Does this Work?

I don't know the answer to that question. So far, I have hear from Rodney that he tried to create an account and it told him he already had one. I assume it may be due to the fact I sent invites with your email address and that address is in the system. Britton also emailed asking what to do... I suggested she try using her email address (Many of us have several. I sent and invite to the one on the TM06 Grant.) Say you forgot the password and perhaps it will allow you to set a new one... Let's learn together! Please add comments and/or post. I gave permission to all so we can practice.

Goals Statement

Oklahoma State University Writing Project (OSUWP), including Teacher Consultants (TCs) and site leadership, plans to begin an in-depth study to support the integration of technology into the core work and priorities at both the site level and in the classroom. This ‘Tech Team’ will meet face-to-face and online as we read, research and discuss possible professional development opportunities and plan a technology mini-institute to be offered in the summer/fall of 2007. The goals of this year are three-fold: to increase site familiarity and comfort with technology, creating a technology leadership community; to enhance the site web presence; to provide a mini-institute for OSUWP TCs, which will model the richly varied technology including the read/write web.
